I am glad to hear about that progress (and now I am able to stay with my Athenian white/beige without some kind of a twin look ).
Well, to make it stand again, all those techniques you mentioned seem to be practicable, but: - lemon juice would attract ants, bees, bugs or wasps in camp - saliva, uhm, that would be hard work for a whole crest (a paintbrush, ok, but a crest?) - modern hair spray might do it, but its not that authentic (but sometimes there have to be compromises).
Maybe you could try to store it upside down between two cardboards for a while or, if the colour allows it with some steam. But all this depends on the structure of the crest itself.
And as always: Can you please post some pictures? That would be great.

Chaire Strategos,
I have used a primitive but effective method which seems to have worked.... I got so frustrated that it put the crest under the heaviest thing I could find and left it there for two weeks !!!! The crest is at a nice vertical now
Amazing but true !
I had thought about the lemon juice, saliva etc but they seem to all be "sticky" answers to getting the problem fixed
(No comments on the sticky bit please people! )
